You can work and study in USA. During your course you will be allowed to work 20 hours per week on campus. Also, you’re allowed 40 hours during vacations. You can apply to work off campus but, this is only recommended if it’s a necessity. Also, you can secure a Research Assistantship (RA) or a Teaching Assistantship (TA) or a Graduate Assistantship (GA) which can really take care of your expenses in the US.
You may also secure an internship in US during your program of study. Many Universities encourage you and connect you with companies with who you can work during your holidays. Keep in touch with the career service unit at the University early on!

Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the US
Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a period during which undergraduate and graduate students with F-1 status (US student visa) who have completed or have been pursuing their degrees for more than nine months are permitted by the USCIS to work towards getting practical training to complement their field of studies. To simply put, OPT year is the year that allows you to work in the US (your post-study work visa).
Universities allow students to opt for the Optional Training Period (OPT), whereby students can stay back for a year and work in the US. Post one year, you need a job offer in hand to stay back and an application for H1B has to be made (based on the job offer).
If your course is however a STEM designated course, then you are allowed to extend the OPT period to 3 years, thus allowing you 2 more additional years of work. Many programs in the US, especially tech programs, are STEM degrees. Learn more about STEM courses in the US.
